Challenge 12 - Laura

Gail did a great job with all her layouts and it was so hard to choose just one to scraplift. The one I chose was her very first layout for challenge 1

Here is my scraplift

The race was a lot of fun and I hope to participate again next year. We won't know until Tues if we won the grand prize or not. Wouldn't that be nice? Gail and I are getting very excited and can't wait till they announce the winner. Only one team will win. I think the prize is over $800 worth of digital prizes. Wish us luck.

Challenge 12

Your challenge is to scraplift your favorite layout done by your partner. You must scrap your page about your favorite aspect of the Amazing Digi Scrapping Race.

That's it. Two components. A scraplift and a topic.

And for completing the challenge, you'll get a coupon for $7 good towards anything in my personal store at NDISB. The coupon is good through the end of the year, so if you don't see $7 worth of stuff you don't already have, I've got plenty of new stuff coming out.

ETA: The layout you scraplift of your partner needs to be one an ADSR layout. Thanks for the question!!

Challenge 11 - Laura's

I see a lot of movies. No not in the theatre but at home as we have a home movie theatre in our basement. We rent from Netflix so we get at least 3 movies a week to watch at night when the children are sleeping.

Recently my favorite movie has been "The Phantom of the Opera" but I couldn't think of how it relates to me except for the fact that I love the music from that movie. I have the soundtrack and listen to it often.

So I went with my all time favorite movie "Beaches". I saw this movie as a teenager and it remains to be my favorite movie. So here's my layout:

Looking forward to the last challenge and hoping it's not a difficult one since my children are celebrating their birthday on Saturday so I maybe quite busy and don't want to disappoint Gail. Maybe they'll post it early so I can get it done and don't have to worry about running out of time with the party.

Challenge 9 - (Laura's Embarrassing Moment)

Victoria lost her earring so we went to the jewelry store to purchase her a new pair. The jewelry store is located in our supermarket so all the kids were in the shopping cart. It was also senior citizen day. I was leaning over the counter looking at the earrings when an older woman across the counter started to make a strange noise. I looked up and she pointed to her breast area and then pointed to me. My boobs were showing! How embarrassing giving a show to the older men in the store. This will be the last time I wear this shirt with the triplets. They cling and tug on me all day long and apparently one of the buttons opened.

Challenge 9 - Embarrassing Moment

Scrap your *most embarrassing moment*—you know, that time you put your foot in your mouth big-time, or got caught doing something you never would have done if you’d known people were watching? Yeah—scrap that!

But that’s not all! For this challenge you MUST:

--Use a photo that goes with your most embarrassing moment. It doesn’t have to be a photo of the actual moment (because who stops in the middle of something super embarrassing and says, “Hey, I should get a picture of this so I can scrap it later!”?), but just a visual aid to the story. If you walked around all day with a piece of toilet paper hanging out the back of your pants, then use a photo of a roll of toilet paper. Wink

--Journal about your embarrassing moment.

--Use at least one ribbon

--Use at least one tag

--Use at least two different fonts on your layout (not including alphas)

Note: You must be involved in the embarrassing moment in some fashion - it doesn't have to be yours alone - but this is supposed to be about you. Smile

Challenge hosted by oscraps. Reward: choice of one of our fab-O Oscraps collaborative kits for completing this leg of the race! (prize awarded via coupon code to the Oscraps shop)

Challenge #8 - Girl Talk (Gail's Layout)

When I first read this challenge I thought it was going to be harder than it turned out to be. I had no clue what to do. I have a great online friend and we have our girl talk almost every morning so I thought about centering my page around that relationship. Problem was...I had no photos to go with it. Not really a problem...just a stumbling block...because I could always do a page with just journaling, but I had just completed that type of page and really didn't want to journal that much right now.

I finally remembered the box of photos I recently got from my mom that had just been scanned. I recalled seeing a photo of me when I was about 3 years old and my favorite aunt, who was about 17 at the time, having a tea party. It couldn't be more appropriate for this challenge. Aunt Mary has always been my favorite aunt and we've always been close. We started with tea parties and we still continue our girl talk over coffee to this day. That's the story behind my layout below.

Now I'm off to stalk the sponsor websites in hopes that Challenge #9 is posted early!
Thanks for looking!
Later,
Gail

Challenge 8 - Girl Talk (Laura)

This was a simple challenge, I'm glad as some of the others have been a little more difficult. The last photo I took of my best friend, Debbie, was at my niece's birthday party back in April. So I just had to find the photo. I just loved the August color challenge at deco-pages so I took it from there.

Journaling reads: Debbie and I have been friends for 31 years. We met in kindergarden. Now that we are both married and have children our main conversation is about our children. Potty training, tantrums, MOPS meetings, activities for the children, etc. Years ago when we had no children we would talk about our husbands. Never any mention of poop. Who would have known we would have been sharing poopy discussions years later.

Challenge 8 - Girl Talk Rules

Challenge: Each participant needs to create a layout using the theme “Girl Talk.” Some ideas of how to use the theme: Show us the person you are most likely to “girl talk” with… what is most often the topic of discussion in your “girl talk”? what about when you were a teen? what was the girl talk then? what is it now? how’s it changed? Just about anything goes as long as you incorporate the theme in some way.

Prize: All ADSR2 participants who complete the challenge will receive the exclusive Dani’s Girl’s 6×6 Heat Wave QP album with instructions on how to turn it into an accordion album. In addition, one random name will be drawn from those who complete the challenge and that person and their partner will be offered a spot as guests on the Dani’s Girls team in September!

Challenge can be found here.

Challenge 7 - Triplet Picnic

Challenge 7 was a bit tricky for me. The first part of the challenge was to use 10 photos. Okay, I tend to take a lot of photos but rarely do I use more than 2 or 3 photos on a page. Luckily, I had a lot of photo opportunities to choose from this past week. My first thought was to go with photos I had taken at a birthday party I attended last week. But then changed my mind because I felt uncomfortable putting my friend's child on the internet. My next choice was the YMCA photos of the kids playing at their sports class. I tried to get 10 good photos on Monday but didn't manage to get that many good ones. So, I then was left with the triplet picnic photos that I had taken this past Sunday. I did have 10 good ones. Horray! I just had to put my photos in the layout, select background paper, journal and add a title. This is what I had done.

The 2nd part of the challenge
, I had to pass my layout to Gail and she had to embellish it. Wow, look what she had turned my layout into. She changed the title, changed the font for the journaling, added the date in a circle, added stitches around my focal photo, added their names in tags and added the beautiful butterfly that matches so nicely with the colors of the photos. Gorgeous Gail. I love it.

The last couple of days have been very busy for me with many activities for the children to attend but I did manage to work on Gail's layout within the chaos of my life. My challenge was to embellish her layout. It was a bit tricky. I started out working on it then got stumped. For the first time in my life really I actually had to sleep on the layout and not finish it. I just wanted her layout to be so nice and didn't want to disappoint her. So I started it I think Monday night and didn't finish it until Tuesday morning. I had to think of how I wanted it to look. Luckily, her page was about her son and I had collected some son things along my digital travels. Gail will share what I had done to her layout in another post.

Glad challenge 7 is complete. Sure hope challenge 8 will be a little easier.

Challenge #7 Has Been Posted

The Challenge:

For this challenge each of you will be creating a multi-photo layout. And not just 2 or 3 photos - you must use a minimum of TEN PHOTOS on your layout!!!!

Now there's a twist so pay close attention...

You will choose your background paper(s), photos and title and will arrange them the way that you want them. THEN you and your partner will TRADE your layouts and your partner will be responsible to embellish your layout for you!

This challenge is sponsored by Blue Flombingo.

I am SO excited about this challenge! I LOVE multi-photo layouts and this is going to be such fun. All I have to do is add my photos and background papers then pass it on to Laura to embellish. Doesn't get much easier than that, huh! Of course, then I have to add embellishments to Laura's layout. THAT is going to be the real challenge for me. Laura has little ones that are the focus of her layouts. My children are all teenagers and adults. I sure hope I've got some embellishments that will work for her layout.

Rumor has it that Laura may be scrapping pics from a recent birthday party her triplets attended. If that's the case, I'm covered. I've got a FANTASTIC birthday kit I've yet to use! I've finished my layout and have emailed it to Laura. I can hardly wait to see what she does with it. She's so quick I'm sure I'll get it back later today. She has commitments this morning and won't be around until lunchtime. I guess I can wait that long.

Later!
Gail

Challenge 6 - Mess

Lots of credits for this challenge. I decided to go with a food mess theme. The challenge said that only one person needs to submit a layout. I just got this idea during nap time and went to it after taking a photo at lunch time of the mess I had to clean up time after time. Some of the embellishments I used are from Deco-pages designers, digitalscrapbookplace designers and some freebies I collected along my way. We had to use one element from different designers. The paper could be a duplicate designer.

We had to put some type of journaling on the layout so I went with a postcard and a little note to my grandmother that reads: Dear Grandma, No matter what I do we always seem to have a mess in our house. If it's not toys, it winds up being a food mess. This time it is pizza (doodle of pizza) plus a drink spill. UG! Toddler Years. Laura

Challenge #6 Is Posted!

We just received our next challenge and it's a ROAD BLOCK! Only one of us can complete it. The details are:

You will need to create a "messy" style layout. Please use a solid paper and only 2 patterns for any paper extras. You must use at least 15 elements and no more than two elements can be from the same designer. Please do not use the same element repetitively more than twice as this counts as your two items per designer. Use this roadblock to challenge your creativity and to think outside your normal scrapping box. The messier the better and please feel free to use more than 15 elements as that is the minimum requirement only. We would also love to see some fancy title work (an alpha used for your title work can be considered one element) and there should be at least a tiny bit of journaling. Include dates, location and names somewhere on the layout.

This challenge is sponsored by Elementalscraps.

Laura had an early morning engagement with her children this morning so we haven't gotten a chance to discuss this challenge yet. I'm not sure which one of us will end up doing it yet. We'll be sure to let you know as soon as we decide, though, so stay tuned!

Later!
Gail
